Applications
The RP40
is a multi-technology card reader designed for customers upgrading their
current card system from HID Prox to iCLASS credentials. With the RP40 reader,
the customer has the ability to transition to smart cards over time while
incorporating the use of multiple card technologies within a single building or
across multiple facilities. Unlike contactless smart card serial number
readers, with the RP40 multiCLASS¢â reader, you get enhanced security through
mutual authentication and data encryption. Only the RP40 provides true iCLASS
security, the ease of Prox, the power of smart cards and the confidence of
choosing HID, the worldwide leader in access control.

Key
Features
• Reads HID Prox, iCLASS, DESFire¢â
• ISO 15693 CSN (MyD, I Code, Tag It)
• ISO14443A CSN (MIFARE®) •
FeliCa¢â CSN • Provides flexible options for processing multi-technology cards •
Simple migration from HID Prox to iCLASS • Same wiring connections and same
card formats • Ultra-low current consumption (80 mA) • Larger voltage span (5-16
VDC) • Corporate 1000 can be easily
migrated
Unique
Read Selection
• iCLASS Only – the reader will only read and output data from an
iCLASS credential • Prox Only – the reader will only read and output data from
an Prox credential • iCLASS Preferred – when a multi-technology card is
presented, the reader will only read and output iCLASS data. • Prox Preferred – when a multi-technology card is presented,
the reader will only read and output Prox data • Universal – when a multi-technology card is presented,
the reader will read and output both iCLASS and
Prox data with duplicate numbers suppressed.
Seamless
Upgrade
• Same Prox reader features and format compatibilities • Same iCLASS
reader features and are interchangeable for reading iCLASS credentials. • All
Corporate 1000 formats can be migrated. • For additional security, our Elite
program is now available with iCLASS credentials. • Wiegand output easily
interfaces with existing Wiegand protocol access control panels.
Features
• iCLASS
Security: 64-bit authentication keys are extremely secure. Readers and cards
require matching keys to function. All RF data transmission between the card
and reader is encrypted, using a secure algorithm. The key management system
reduces the risk of compromised data or duplicated cards. • iCLASS
Programming/Configuration: Key management is made easy! All cards are shipped
with unique diversified keys, and readers are shipped with compatible keys.
While cards and readers with Standard keys are interchangeable, the keys are
highly secure. Custom site specific keys are available with our Elite
program. • Easily Interfaced: The reader¡¯s Wiegand output easily interfaces with
most existing Wiegand protocol access control panels. The reader reads standard
HID format data and will output data as encoded. When reading MIFARE® cards,
the reader can be configured to output 26-bit, 32-bit, 34-bit, 37-bit, 40-bit,
or 56-bit Wiegand formats are based on the card serial number. • Card
Compatibility: • 125 kHz Proximity • HID
proximity cards, key fobs, and tags. • 13.56 MHz contactless smart cards • ISO 15693 - read only; 2k bit (256 Byte) and
16k bit (2k Byte); serial number • ISO
14443A - read only; MIFARE (serial number) •
ISO 14443B - read only; 2k bit (256 Byte) and 16k bit (2k Byte) • Audiovisual
Indication: Audio sounder provides various tone sequences to signify access
granted, access denied, power up and diagnostics. Visually impaired cardholders
can easily distinguish between access granted and access denied. A
high-intensity light bar provides a clear visual status indication in red,
green or amber, even in bright sunlight. • Mounting: A three-part reader makes
installation easier. Mounting plate attaches to U.S./EU/Asian back box, 52-60
mm screw hole spacing (vertical or horizontal), or to any flat surface. Reader
body fits onto mounting plate. Cover fits over reader body, secured with a
screw. An auto-tuning circuit provides consistent read ranges on various
mounting surfaces with minimal reduction on metal surfaces. • Indoor/Outdoor
Design: Rugged, weatherized polycarbonate enclosure, designed to withstand harsh
environments, provides reliable performance and resistance to vandalism. A
tamper switch in reader housing facilitates the notification of a tamper
alarm. • Warranty: Warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for life.
• Part Numbers: Base Part Number (6125)
